Approximately an hour later, a tactical search operation was in full swing. Correction officers from every facility in the five boroughs were in Five North, searching and practically tearing the housing area apart. Annoyed inmates were being strip-searched by the male officers. Once the male inmates were dressed, the female correction officers would step into their cells and search it from top to bottom. The inmates silently protested the unfairness of the operation. Never did they stop to think that one of their very own had caused the fracas; they would rather blame the officers for doing their job.

Meanwhile, the special search team then proceeded to use tools to search the cracks and crevices of the housing area and anywhere an inmate was most likely to stash a weapon. Three weapons were retrieved from various places in Five North, and the warden’s face turned beet red. Now he would really have some explaining to do to the chief of security.

Ten minutes later, Lamont paced up and down the tiers during the search, but kept his eyes on Anwar. He felt that Anwar was a 730: the penal code for a mentally disturbed person. This made Lamont want to reconsider his initial approach.

“Why are you back over here, man?” Anwar asked Lamont. The male officer holding his arm while his cell was being searched tightened his grip. Anwar rolled his eyes at him. He looked Lamont up and down. “I hope you ain’t gonna start stalkin’ me now. I ain’t with that homo shit, Deputy Simmons!”

Lamont ignored Anwar’s statement and walked inside of his cell while another officer was searching it. There were a lot of things in Anwar’s cell that he wasn’t supposed to have.

“How did you get these into this facility?” asked Lamont, holding up a pair of Anwar’s pricey jeans.

“’Cause that’s what I do! You know my bitch, Deja, got connections with the Department of Correction!” he replied with a smirk.

Lamont threw the jeans on the floor and walked all over them with his boots. He brushed past Anwar as he walked out of the dank cell. He didn’t have time to play with inmates and Anwar was one of them.

After walking back downstairs to talk to some officers, Sierra ran across his mind. After the search was over, he made a mental note to go straight to the clinic to find out what was going on with her. She had some explaining to do.
